The turnshop

After eight years of working in a basement at the Oudegracht in Utrecht, we moved our turn shop in the year 2000 to the current location. The turn shop is a small business complex; we share the machines and office space, but we all have our own one-man businesses. In the workshop, we work with three people on a daily basis: my colleagues  Luc Brouwer, Joost Kramer and myself. We also have a part-time colleague; Rien Vos, who joins us for one day a week.

During the years, the turn shop has developed itself from merely a turnshop, to a 'last resort' where people can place those special orders they can hardly place anywhere else. From a few bars for stairs, to the complete restoration of staircases including the steps and the end poles; from the baluster of a balcony to the complete design, creation and placing of a balcony. In addition to turning wood, we can also make complete copies of turn work with additional carving.
Of course, we also make ordinary turn work. All our work is hand-made and high standard. This quality translates itself into the price, but also generates most of our clients. Many of our clients are designers, interior builders and instrument builders; companies who operate in the higher market segment. But people from the private-sector, who just need that special button for grandma's old cabinet, are also most welcome.

I hope to see you in the turn shop!
